The Great Land was first brought to our attention by some friends - from our point of view it's a little out of the way, but we still make the effort to drive over occasionally because we do thoroughly enjoy it.
The Great Land over recent years has reached a par with the Ivy Palace in Colne. The food is hard to beat - I've a favourite here; the Kung Po chicken. I also particularly enjoy the way they do the fried rice. She who would like to be obeyed likes chicken in Cantonese sauce, crispy chicken in sweet chili sauce, as well as the duck with Hoisin sauce and pancakes. Watch out though if your tempted by Kung Po - it can be pretty hot stuff!
Staff and management are particularly friendly, another thing they have in common with the Ivy Palace. What I love is the fact that everybody treats you as a friend and seems genuinely interested in talking to you.
I'm continually surprised at how quiet the restaurant has been whenever we've been - so far there's been no real need to book a table, although we invariably do to be on the safe side.
We reckon it's another of those hidden gems just waiting to be discovered - although I must admit we'd rather keep it to ourselves!
Like the Ivy Palace, highly recommended!
