Head along the M65 for Blackburn town centre. There's usually pretty good parking available, including a big park on top of the Mall which is attached to the new market, or an NCP park right opposite.
There are a few cafes within the Market, but our favourite is Butlers. It was located in what's known as the Covered Market, up a flight of stairs near the entrance, but has now moved to the new market. I thought Greta's Steak Puddings (Nelson) would take some beating, but Butlers comes very close, if not equal. It's a little more expensive than its Nelson counterpart, but their gravy is delicious, and the chips are excellent.
There's a varied menu, all of traditional English food. Monday Tuesday and Thursday is senior citizens 10% discount and a free cup of tea days, baby high chairs and full wheelchair access is available. They can cater for parties or groups to order, and they're fully licenced.
Opening times: (Open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 10-30am to 1-45pm Wednesday & Friday 10-30am to 3-00pm Saturday 10-30am TO 4-00pm.Open through lunch.) Good value, friendly service, and the market itself is a great place to spend the day shopping.
The market is also particularly renowned for high quality butchers and meat products. Try pork sausages from Greens or their bacon joints - very tasty!
