What a find this proved to be! The team at Fresh went for our Christmas lunch, and I can honestly say it was the best meal I'd had out in many years.

The food was absolutely excellent; vegetables cooked to perfection, with sprouts, roasted parsnips, carrots, broccoli, potato wedges, hand-cut chips, and roast potatoes all done exactly the way they should be. I know you're supposed to idolise your mother's cooking, but frankly mine used to massacre sprouts to the point where you could have made soup just by squashing them with your fork! But these had bite without being raw, and as a consequence were absolutely full of flavour.

Quite what the chef did with the potatoes I couldn't say - but I wish I could do them like that! I had the Challenger Chicken after a Salmon and Prawn starter, and all accompanied with a pint of golden Pippin. One of the sales team kicked off with a delicious bowl of garlic mushrooms with cheese, crusty bread and salad. Her main course was a gorgeous fish pie, while Julian from Breakfast chose a steak, which - for his taste - was perfect. (I like mine a fairly dark shade of black, where even the DNA would be hard to recover!)

This is without doubt a very classy bistro, but with food at an entirely affordable price, which will make us want to go back again and again.
